The Smart Corps Factory Team continues its winning streak in the Scenario Players Paintball League.
Now in its fourth season, the Scenario Player's Paintball League has become the premiere battleground for paintball teams to test their mettle in a scenario style competition.
The SPPL game format involves hour long games with teams fighting for control of not one flag, but of three bases. Additional objectives can be captured which can give teams a tactical advantage by instantly resurrecting eliminated players, using RPG's, rockets which can be thrown, and Dirty Bombs which take some strategy to use, as they will eliminate both friend and foe in their area of detonation.
New this year, the league is dividing teams by skill and experience levels. The SPPL allows teams to compete in the Rookie, Master's or Elite divisions. As the reigning national champions for the last two years, the Smart Corps Factory team competes against the best of the best in the Elite division.
SPPL qualifier competitions are held throughout the United States and allow teams to earn the right to compete in the national finals at the end of the year. July 26th and 27th, scenario players converged on the historic Cousin's Paintball field in Platekill, New York. With four victories out of four games played, First Place Elite went to the Smart Corps.
The Smart Corps Factory Team consists of employees working in Smart Parts' Pennsylvania office and factory. Not only have they risen to the top of the country's most prominent scenario competition, they have had a great time doing it.
“We love playing in the SPPL,” said team member Bill Gardner, Jr, “The SPPL has really brought back old-school in-the-woods paintball, like the tournaments we played back in the 80s. They've infused it with a modern scenario twist and a style that really brings out the camaraderie and sportsmanship of all the teams.”

SP-1 tactical marker This compact milsim-oriented electropneumatic paintball marker has been turning heads since it first appeared in the team's hands at the 2007 SPPL finals. The SP-1's durability and quiet low-pressure operation give it the stealth, firepower and flexibility that woods oriented players are after, but its price tag is affordable to the first-time paintballer.
“This is a great start to the new season for us,” said team coordinator Sean Scott, “We've recently brought aboard Dave Cilio from the Thunderstruck scenario team as well as Frank Connell from Procaps and Rich Bianco from Punisher PB. All three were a great asset in New York, even after Frank sprained his ankle. It was a great event for us, and we'd like to especially thank the OTP Saints, Black Eagle Squadron, 110 and NY Spindown for their sportsmanship.”
With New York under their belt, the Smart Corps factory team will next compete in the SPPL Michigan Qualifier.
