That's right, I'm on the verge of dropping out of High School. And I don't need anyone telling me that would be the worst decision of my life, because my worst decision was giving up on the school that I wanted to attend because of my family's financial crisis. I threw my only shot of getting a decent high school education because my family couldn't pay for course materials and transportation while I have a FULL academic scholarship. No tuition, no sports, no lunches, no play admission, I didn't pay any of it, yet I still manage to aid in driving my family into a financial hole... Life's fantastic...
So Here I am, now withdrawn from a school 30 minutes away from my house since when I went to meet with a counselor on Monday they said I'd be able to graduate on time with my class, no problem if I moved in with my grandparents and started attending their school [which would make the one I'm enrolled in now nearly 50 - 60 minutes away]. NOW, 3 days after I withdrew from my currently enrolled school [since the counselor said to withdraw as soon as possible to get over there as quickly as possible so I started withdrawing on Monday] I get an e-mail from another counselor saying there's probably no way I'm going to graduate on time because some of the credits won't transfer...
The Educational Institution of the United States is WORTHLESS. Yes, let our students excel in courses in 8th, 9th grade, but no, don't count those towards their graduation requirements, even if they're taking the 9th grade requirements in 8th grade and the 10th grade requirements in 9th, that way when their senior year rolls around all of a sudden they can't graduate because they not only need to take the classes that they took in 9th grade, but also the ones from 8th grade because those credits won't transfer. What's the point in taking accelerated courses if it only sets me behind because they won't just give me credit for taking the class, but I have to have taken it in a certain year. The state of Minnesota should make all public schools offer the same courses and make them all available no matter what year of Jr. or Sr. high you take them in. It's bull shit. Put simply. Totally.
